The financial system in India is regulated by independent regulators in the field of banking, insurance, capital market, commodities market, and pension funds. Like RBI regulating India's banking industry and SEBI regulating the capital markets, we have CERC and SERC regulating the Central and State power utilities respectively. In the last few decades, these regulators have played an activist role to benefit the customer.
